Day 1 Tokyo

This evening meet for your welcome reception and dinner at the Conrad Tokyo Hotel, your special stay for the next three nights. (D)

Day 2 Tokyo

Begin with a cruise along the Sumida River to Asakusa and explore Yananka, with its fascinating historic residential buildings. Afterwards, pay your respects at Sensoji, the city’s oldest Buddhist temple.
Freechoice: Head to West Tokyo. Here you have an opportunity to either visit the Imperial Shinto Meiji Shrine, before you stroll along the architectural showcase of Omotesando Walk, and shopping in the Shibuya District, or relax in the picturesque Shinjuku- Gyoen Gardens before shopping in Shinjuku entertainment district. Day 3 Tokyo

Start your day admiring the spectacular views from Tokyo Skytree before visiting the National Sumo Stadium and Museum in the Ryogoku District. Later, walk through the peaceful and privately landscaped Hama-Rikyu Gardens.

Enrich Given by Taiko Masters, partake in an interactive private group demonstration and lesson in playing the Taiko drums.

Day 4 Tokyo - Hakonee

Later, with the help of a local chef, you’ll get to prepare it yourself, and eat it. Venture into the countryside on your drive to Hakone and study the art works and sculptures at the Hakone Open Air Museum. Day 5 Hakone - Five Lakes

Admire stunning scenery during your cable car ride up to Owakudani geothermal area, and the walks around the hot springs at the summit. Later, discover the craftsmanship involved in creating kimonos at the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum while learning about their fascinating 300-year-old technique. Then savour the views of Mt Fuji from your hotel, the Fuji Lake Hotel or similar.(BLD)

Day 6 Five Lakes - Takayama

Cross beautiful countryside on your drive to Takayama, where you’ll learn how they make wasabi at the Daio Wasabi Farm. Later, stop at the Hida Folk Village to partake in Sarubobo mascot making. And tonight, you’ll begin a two night stay at the elegant Taka ama Associa. (BLD)

Day 7 Takayama

Explore the surrounding villages, including the famous traditional farmhouses of Shirakawa-go. Then gain unique insights into the region’s culture and history at the various museums and arts centres located in Takayama’s old quarter.

Day 9 Nagoya - Kyoto

Today, explore the rebuilt Nagoya Castle before travelling by Shinkansen train to the culturally rich city of Kyoto, home to many World Heritage-listed sites. Day 10 Kyoto

Today, visit the Golden Pavilion, wander the classical Zen Garden at Ryoanji Temple and marvel at the architecture of the Nijo Castle, a classic reminder of the Edo-period shogunate. Enrich Dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono, you’ll get to learn about the Japanese tea ceremony, and enjoy a bento box lunch.

Day 11 Kyoto

Day 12 Kyoto - Nara

Enjoy an excursion to Nara, where you’ll visit Todaiji Temple and see deer in Nara Park. You’ll stop at the Fushimi Inari Shrine, featured in the movie Memoirs of a Geisha, before a sake tasting and visit to the sake museum. (BLD)

Day 13 Kyoto - Hiroshima

Revel in the atmosphere of the ancient preservation districts in your own time, before boarding your Shinkansen train to Hiroshima. Tonight, sample Okonomiyaki, a delicious Japanesestyle pancake. You’ll enjoy two restful nights at Sheraton Hiroshima. (BLD)

Day 14 Hiroshima - Miyajima Island

Sail by ferry to Miyajima Island to visit the Daisho-in Temple and the floating sixth century Torii Gate at the Itsukush ima Shrine. Later experience an emotional visit to the Peace Park. (BL)

Day 15 Hiroshima - Himeji - Osaka

Day 16 Osaka

Located outside of Osaka is the timeless village of Tondabayashi Jinaimachi. Wander around this splendid historical time capsule, with houses and buildings that date back to the Edo period.
