1 Queenstown - Ta Anau
6.30am (approx) coach from Queenstown. Those starting in Te Anau join the trip at 8.25am
and travel on to the start of the Track. Then re-trace the footsteps of early explorers along the
Hollyford River to Pyke River Lodge. As the Track undulates gently through native beech forest
and beside tumbling waterfalls enjoy interesting historical tales and interpretation of the forest
and bird life. In the evening you can visit our nearby glow-worm colony. Walking Distance:
Approx. 19.5kms (12 miles) 5-7 hours of walking. (LD)
Stay: Pyke River Lodge.
Begin your day with a short walk to Lake Alabaster. Cross Fiordland’s longest swing bridge and
then enjoy a captivating Jet Boat journey down the Hollyford River and across Lake McKerrow
to the historic site of Jamestown. Walk through the ancient Podocarp forest with huge Rimu,
Totara and Kahikatea trees wrapped in massive Rata vines. Then visit the fur seal colony at Long
Reef on the wild West Coast. Spend the night at Martins Bay Lodge. Walking Distance: Approx.
15kms (9miles) 4-5 hours of walking out and about for up to 10 hours! (BLD)

3 Walking - Queenstown
Travel by Jet Boat to the beach and explore the seven kilometre Martins Bay Beach. Later enjoy
a scenic helicopter flight from remote Martin’s Bay, flying over pristine rivers, dramatic alpine
vistas and glacial formations, thundering waterfalls, wild coastline and down the length of majestic
Milford Sound, landing at Milford Airport to board your coach for your return journey to Queenstown
or Te Anau. Arrive back in Te Anau by 4.30pm and Queenstown by approx 7pm. Walking Distance:
Approx. 8.5kms (5 miles) 3-5 hours of walking. (BL)
