ITINERARY

DAY 1 Arrival in Bordeaux

Afternoon arrival at Saint-Jean railway station and transfer to your hotel in Bordeaux.

Check-in to your 4-star hotel, ideally located in the city centre.

Welcome dinner at a gastronomic restaurant Le Chapon Fin (walking distance from your hotel).

Set up in 1825 in the golden triangle of Bordeaux, Le Chapon Fin was one of the first restaurants to receive a Michelin award in 1933. At the beginning of the 20th century, Bordeaux merchants or wealthy transatlantic travellers, en route to their holiday resorts on the Basque coast – all those from the high society – stopped off in Bordeaux at the Chapon Fin. Today, the Chapon Fin still lives up to its reputation. Young Chef Nicolas Nguyen Van Hai shows his creativity and modernity through the best local products. The restaurant’s amazing rockery decor is shown off to its best by the use of modern tones and contemporary furniture.(D)

DAY 2 Discovery of Bordeaux

Breakfast at your hotel. Meet with your tour guide at your hotel.
Private sightseeing tour of Bordeaux with your guide: discovery of the main sites belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage Site: le Grand Théatre, the monument dedicated to the Girondins on the Esplanade of Quinconces, la Place de la Bourse, Cathédrale Saint André and also the fully refurbished docks to end at the brand new Cité du Vin.

Enjoy magnificent panoramic views of Bordeaux and the ‘Port de la Lune’, whilst feasting on dishes made from seasonal, regional products. The seventh floor of La Cité du Vin is home to the panoramic restaurant Le 7. Embark on a culinary journey in a cosmopolitan setting, combining your food with wines from 50 wine-producing countries across the globe thanks to a wine list with more than 500 bottles.
La Cité du Vin: Discovery of the permanent tour. Embark on an immersive, sensory adventure to discover the cultures and civilizations of wine. DAY 3 Left Bank discovery

Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to the left bank with your private driver.
Welcome to a charming Château of Fronsac Appellation for a private visit and tasting. The château produces organic wines and uses biodynamic.
You will then climb the gentle hill to enjoy a wonderful picnic with a panoramic view over the Château’s vineyard. Under the shade of umbrellas and with a real picnic set already installed for you, you will taste different local, fresh products (charcuterie, cheese, different cake…) that will be perfectly paired with a nice wine of the estate.
Transfer to Saint-Émilion. Private visit and blind tasting at a Château Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion: the visit will be tailored according to your interests and followed by a blind tasting in the château’s private cellar. In the intimacy of the place, you will be introduced to the great principles of blind tasting.
Private guided visit of Saint-Émilion underground monuments. Visit this UNESCO World Heritage site and enjoy an incredible visit of its underground monuments. Your guide will take you through the medieval cobblestones streets, from the city’s ramparts to the heart of the ancient monasteries. He will explain the background of Saint-Emilion’s unique underground monuments. The tour covers several centuries of history and legend from the time of the monk Emilion to the carving out of the amazing monolithic church. You will be able to see paintings in the Chapelle de la Trinité and learn the secrets of the catacombs. This visit to four major monuments amounts to a condensed history of Saint Emilion!

DAY 4 Margaux Appellation

Breakfast at your hotel and check-out.
Transfer to the Médoc with your private driver.
Cellar visit and wine tasting at a Château of the Saint-Julien Appellation. DAY 5 Further Medoc discovery

Breakfast at the Château.
Your private driver will pick you up and will drive you to a Château in the Médoc Appellation.
Cooking class in a château of the Médoc region: an initiatory journey into the gourmet world of French cuisine with an in-house chef. Novices or experts, you will spend an unforgettable moment behind the ovens in the Château’s kitchen, in the company of a private Chef, who will reveal some of his secrets.
While your delicious meal is simmering in the oven, enjoy a visit of the Château’s cellars. From the vineyard to the cellar, this visit will allow you to discover the spirit of a family, the terroir of Haut-Médoc and the secrets of the winemaking.
Lunch served in the château’s dining room or in its charming kitchen. You will be received as a special guest to taste the dishes that you have just prepared and share your culinary experience. Silverware, beautiful crockery and wonderful food and wine pairings: taste the “Art de Vivre à la Française”!
Visit and tasting at Château Mouton Rothschild. At this First Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, enjoy a commented visit of the cellars, the vat room and tasting of three wines of the property. Dinner at a traditional French restaurant in the Médoc.(BLD)

DAY 6 Arcachon Bay

Breakfast at the Château Transfer to Arcachon Bay with your private driver. Visit of a typical Fisherman’s Village oysters farm. The owner will share his passion and knowledge for oyster growing. He will especially teach you how to easily open them and prepare a flavoursome tasting with some fresh bread and butter and a glass of chilled white wine. Lunch at your leisure, not included. Leisure time in the city of Arcachon, along the beautiful coast-line. You can choose to climb the Pyla’s Sand Dune, the highest Sand Dune in Europe. Enjoy the amazing views of the ocean, the bay and the forest! Be brave enough to walk down the dune and put one foot (or more!) into the water! Dinner in a restaurant on the Dune de Pyla. Between dune and pine forest, this restaurant enjoys an exceptional location and offers a breathtaking view, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Arcachon (drinks not included).
