ITINERARY

Day 1 Rome – Montepulciano – Pienza – Siena (260 km)

Depart your Rome hotel early this morning through the rolling hills of the Chianti region. Reach the ancient hilltop town of Montepulciano, famous for producing one of the oldest wines of Italy, the “Nobile di Montepulci no”. Stop at a wine cellar for a tasting of local products then proceed to Pienza, the Renaissance town known for its pecorino cheese. Arrive in Siena for a walking tour of the medieval streets, ending in the Piazza del Campo. In the evening enjoy a traditional Tuscan meal at the hotel. (D)

Day 2 Siena – San Gimignano – Tavernelle – Lucca – Pisa – La Spezia (415 km)

After breakfast travel to San Gimignano, a tiny Tuscan town known for its towers and frescoes. Proceed to Tavernelle Val di Pesa located within the Chianti Classico “Gallo Nero” region, and stop at La Tancia farmhouse to enjoy a wine tasting with a light lunch. Visit Lucca for a guided walk through the historical centre, then travel to Pisa to see the famous Leaning Tower and Baptistery. Continue to La Spezia and enjoy dinner at the hotel. (BLD)

Day 3 La Spezia – Cinque Terre – La Spezia

Experience an unforgettable boat trip on one of the most enchanting landscapes in the world, the Cinque Terre. Stop at Porto Venere, Vernazza and Monterosso for time at leisure before returning to La Spezia by train. (BD)

Day 4 La Spezia – Carrara – Montecarlo Di Lucca – Rome (450 km)

Travel back to Rome and stop at Carrara to visit the impressive marble quarries. Continue to Montecarlo Di Lucca, an area known for its quality wine and extra virgin olive oil. Stop at a farmhouse for a tasting of the delicious Tuscan specialities of olive oil, cheese, bread, pasta and wines. Proceed to Rome where the tour ends at the coach terminal. (B)
