ITINERARY

DAY 1 Welcome to Perth

On arrival at Perth Airport you’ll be transferred to your hotel by private car. This afternoon meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers and set off on a city tour of Perth including a visit to Kings Park where you can see the broad expanse of the Swan River and wander around the Anzac Memorial and wildflower gardens. You’ll also see the many public art instillations around the city and get a feel for the different precincts surrounding the CBD. Tonight, get to know your fellow travellers over a delicious meal. DAY 2 Perth – Geraldton

Travel along the West Australian coastline to the port of Geraldton. Heading north to Yanchep National Park, you’ll enjoy a fantastic Aboriginal cultural experience in a bush setting. Meet your Aboriginal guide who’ll share with you their way of life and will treat you to the enchanting sounds of the didgeridoo. It’s a hands-on experience where you’ll have the chance to touch and feel traditional Aboriginal tools and it will have you rolling around with laughter. Continue along the coast to the seaside hamlet of Lancelin at lunchtime and then to Nambung National Park, home of the marvellous Pinnacles, a series of intriguing limestone formations. On arrival in Geraldton you’ll visit the evocative HMAS Sydney Memorial and have the chance to discover the seaside township. (B)

DAY 3 Geraldton – Monkey Mia

Visit the Shark Bay World Heritage Discovery and Visitor Centre. Its state of the art displays, including soundscapes, historical and contemporary film footage, interactive multimedia and objects of rare scientific and historical significance, take you on the most amazing journey around Shark Bay and across time, in company and conversation with those who have been part of this extraordinary place. Travel to Hamelin Pool to see the world’s best known colony of Stromatolites. Dating back to the beginning of life on earth, while they may not appear alive, these living structures have helped scientists unravel the history of life on earth! Later visit fascinating Shell Beach, one of only two in the world, formed from billions of coquina bivalve shells up to ten metres deep. Continue to the crystal blue waters and the pristine white shell and sandy beaches of Monkey Mia where you’ll stay for the next two nights. (BD)

DAY 4 Monkey Mia

Every morning, Monkey Mia’s wild dolphins swim to shore to be fed and mingle with the people. After a leisurely breakfast overlooking the calm waters of the bay, watch the famous dolphins swim into shore (Note: As dolphins are wild their appearance cannot be guaranteed.) Today, choose from two Included Choice sightseeing experiences. You may like to join a Daytime Dreaming bush walking tour or unwind and watch the world go by on a magical sunset cruise. (B)

DAY 5 Monkey Mia – Carnarvon

Today you’ll make the journey north to Carnarvon. On arrival visit the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum with plenty of time to explore. (BD)

DAY 6 Carnarvon – Exmouth

Today you’ll journey to the spectacular waters of the West Coast to North West Cape. Exmouth is situated on the boundary of Cape Range National Park and the Ningaloo Marine Park and was built to house the families of US Navy personnel working at Naval Communication Station Harold E Holt. Head to Coral Bay, where we will hop on to a glass bottom boat and cruise over World Heritage listed Ningaloo Reef to see wonderful fish and bright unspoiled coral. It’s a fantastic experience! When you arrive into Exmouth you’ll visit Vlaming Head Lighthouse for stunning views over Lighthouse Bay and enjoy a tour of the township with your Travel Director. Tonight stay just metres from the water, overlooking Exmouth Gulf. (BD)

DAY 7 Exmouth ‘Free Time’

After a leisurely breakfast, today is yours to do as you choose. Why not marvel at the size, grace and beauty of the Whale Shark as you swim alongside them in the pristine waters of the Ningaloo Marine Park. Alternatively, you could take a stroll along the beach, or relax by the hotel pool overlooking the water. (BD)

DAY 8 Exmouth – Karratha

Take one last look over Lighthouse Bay and the Vlaming Head Lighthouse before continuing north to Western Australia’s famous Pilbara region. Known for its rich cultural landscape, red earth and vast mineral deposits, the region’s diverse landscape will fascinate you. Tonight enjoy dinner at your hotel. (BD)

DAY 9 Karratha – Karijini

Enjoy a guided tour of Rio Tinto’s Open Cut Iron Ore Mine site. You will be amazed by the massive pit and see the huge machinery and trucks in action as you’re lead to the heart of the operation. Journey into the depths of the Pilbara to spectacular Karijini National Park. Located in the Hamersley Ranges, Karijini is famous for the natural beauty of its deep gorges, secluded emerald rock pools and ice blue waterfalls. Your stay tonight is in safari-style eco tents. You can sit on your private deck with a good book and relax watching the sun set and fall asleep to the calming sounds of nature. (BLD)

DAY 10 Karijini – Port Hedland

This morning we explore more of Karijini. The startling landscape of spectacular gorges, waterfalls and rock pools provides a striking contrast to the stark red landscape of the Pilbara. You’ll explore Fortescue Falls at Dales Gorge and if you’re up to it, you can take a walk to one of the national park’s plunge pools. Port Hedland is a hub for major resource activity and is a powerhouse of the Australian economy. Its natural deep anchorage harbour sees the export of iron ore, salt, manganese, livestock and natural gas from the nearby off shore gas fields. Tonight enjoy dinner at your hotel. (BD)

DAY 11 Port Hedland – Broome

Skirting the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, we travel crossing vast pastoral leases and Aboriginal homelands through Pardoo, towards the tropical resort town of Broome on the Indian Ocean. Tonight, join your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a farewell dinner overlooking Cable Beach. (BD)

DAY 12 Broome ‘Free Time’

Today you have a full day to explore this tropical hideaway. At some stage you may enjoy a leisurely stroll along the 22 kilometres of pristine sand and swim in the turquoise water that is Cable Beach. Wander through Chinatown or shop for pearls. Tonight, sit back and relax with a drink to watch the spectacular sunset over Cable Beach. (B)

DAY 13 Farewell from Broome

This morning bid farewell to your new-found friends as we transfer you to Broome Airport for your onward flight. (B)
